Many years ago, I refused to hire someone based on their choice of clothes for the interview. They went to work for a competitor and became a star. I did, however, hire a person that dressed like me. He became an average employee.
Our bias, our beliefs, our history, our ego, our ideologies create strong opinions regarding just about everything.
I’ve accepted the prospect that I might be wrong and seek to understand, as Mr. Covey has taught us. I want to see the world as it is and not through the egoistic line of signature glasses many of us wear.
Is that possible?
